About this site
This site is being developed as a resource for the Work-Based Learning Coordinators working in CTE Programs across the city, and anyone interested in developing work experience programs in their school.
Work-based learning (WBL) is a progressive, multi-year sequence of instructional activities, within a real-world, work-related context, that allows students to build a bridge from adolescence to adulthood.
WBL is a core strategy of Career and Technical Education (CTE), though it is effective at any school, in any grade, including:
• guest speakers
• career days
• field trips
• worksite visits
• job shadowing
• off-site projects (outside of the classroom)
• school-based enterprises
• civics and business simulations
• student competitions
